Boxing for Trauma Recovery

I offer an innovative therapeutic approach that integrates trauma-sensitive boxing movements—which can be an energizing and engaging, dare I say, fun process-with traditional Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

This technique is an optional way to enhance trauma-related therapy, designed to support nervous system regulation, increase grounding, and significantly enhance body awareness during the healing process. By engaging in rhythmic, alternating movements, clients can find a powerful, embodied alternative to standard Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) like tapping or eye movements, helping them stay comfortably within their Window of Tolerance. This method is uniquely suited to foster feelings of strength and self-confidence, as clients utilize movement to process difficult memories. Crucially, the boxing movements are used solely for bilateral coordination and nervous system regulation, never for aggression or physical conditioning.
